The intersection of Northern Parkway and Falls Road is the busiest intersection in the city of Baltimore. Approximately 20 years ago, the City planted trees on the Northern Parkway median between Falls Road and Roland Avenue. Since then, many have been lost to automobiles or disease. NRPIA Board member Kathryn Wagner has been working with the Baltimore City Recreation and Parks-Forestry Department (Trees Please) to arrange replanting of trees.
They have exceeded our wildest expectations! In November, the City contracted for the planting of approximately 50 trees on the median strip. These trees will be watered (although we might help them a bit) and are under warranty by the contractor. This is another great example of partnering with the city to improve our neighborhood. This is another great example of individual residents partnering with Baltimore City to improve our neighborhood.
